Golden Lake RusticsWood Products for Sale to the Public
FurnitureArtisans What’s in a burl? Looked at by some as a defect in lumber, Blair McMillan has crafted a wide variety of one-of-a-kind furniture pieces from burls collected in and from local forests. Blair started building rustic furniture in high school shop class, and started his business, Golden Lake Rustics, in 2013 through Enterprise Renfrew County’s Summer Company Program. Golden Lake Rustics promises clients high-quality long lasting furniture. Every piece is truly one of a kind, using mainly live edge burl slabs for the tops, which are impossible to duplicate. The legs of the tables and arms of the chairs are also unique. Using mostly dead standing black ash, every tree has been differently coloured by the sun, rain and wind. Blair collects the burls and wood for his pieces himself. Being in the woods and finding unusual tree features is half the fun. “Wood is a natural, renewable resource, and produces an organic and biodegradable product”, Blair points out. Golden Lake Rustics recently acquired a chainsaw mill, and is looking forward to being able to diversify its product offerings in the near future. You can purchase Blair’s work from him by calling 613-635-3482, or emailing below. Some of his work is available for purchase at The Cottage Cup in Golden Lake.
